Quiet Woman (A)

France, January 1943. In Louise’s café, they’d happily forget about the war. At nearly 70, she sees the Occupation as a simple inconvenience. The members of the Milice, the French anti-Resistance squad, who drink at her bar are just customers like any others, and if you have to find provisions on the black market to serve worthy cuisine, why not? But the arrival of a British parachutist, stranded behind enemy lines, will change this serene lifestyle. With the help of Emile – who is both comrade and lover – she comes to the soldier’s aid, hiding him at her place despite the risks. Determined to save him and without even realizing, Louise finds herself an active part of the resistance.
